Philosophy
Zichichi Family Vineyard and Winery, located in Dry Creek Valley, California, utilizes
traditional winemaking techniques and produces wines of superlative quality that
require a great deal of sacrifice. The wines, which are big ,bold, and full
bodied, are aged 20 months in French and American oak and blended for the final
product that delivers wine with flavor.
History
In 2000,Steve Zichichi, a New Orleans physician, and his wife, Kristin,
purchased the 22 acre Bartolozzi Ranch in Dry Creek Valley, located in the
historic town of Healdsburg. The ranch consists of 14 acres of zinfandel and 4
acres of petite sirah, all planted in 1928 and 1964.The vines are planted on St.
George root stock, are head pruned, and grow in rocky, gravelly soil. After
several years of selling their grapes to local wineries, the Zichichi's decided
to build their own winery, which was completed in 2006. The facility includes a
large rustic tasting room with a fabulous redwood bar and a large deck for
picnics that looks out over the vineyard and the mountains to the east.
The Zichichi Family Vineyard produces these
fine Dry Creek Valley wines:
